Annual Membership Drive

The 2011-2012 annual membership drive for the Haddam Volunteer Ambulance Service (HVAS) is now underway. Our staff thanks you for your continued support. HVAS is a private, non-profit organization. Even though the town of Haddam has contracted emergency medical staffing during critical daytime hours, our primary sources of revenue are membership dues, donations, fund-raisers and service fees. This is why your support in mailing in your membership is important!

Your membership dues still constitute a large portion of our annual operating budget. Membership income is used to purchase medical equipment and supplies and pay for utilities, insurance and training programs. Your membership dues also enable HVAS to conduct courses in First Aid and CPR for the general public, school system and civic groups. HVAS also participates in public safety programs and provides first aid coverage for public gatherings and athletic events in the area. As a direct result of your continued generosity, we have been able to maintain the highest quality of emergency service for Haddam and Higganum residents and businesses since 1976.

As part of the state-wide Emergency Medical System (EMS), HVAS is dedicated to providing prompt and professional pre-hospital emergency medical services in the event of an accident or illness. Haddam Ambulance is committed to having certified medical personnel available to stabilize a patient prior to transport to the nearest appropriate medical facility. The need for HVAS services has grown steadily and now provides emergency medical services in over 350 cases each year to the ill and injured throughout Higganum and Haddam. Haddam Ambulance is intended for EMERGENCIES ONLY. If you have any doubt that the situation is an emergency, please call 911. A unit will be dispatched and medical personnel will evaluate the situation upon arrival. Our “First Responder” EMT’s will go directly to the scene for the fastest response for your needs.

Membership Includes:

HVAS is required by law to bill everyone transported. This bill will be sent to your insurance company. As a member your deductible and/or your co-payment will be covered. Again, we ask for your continued support. Please take a few minutes to send us the attached membership card with your check.

We are proud and prepared to professionally serve our town’s emergency medical needs during the upcoming year.

Sincerely,

Haddam Volunteer Ambulance Service
